The annual AWP Conference & Bookfair takes place this first week of March in Baltimore, Maryland. In addition to a book signing and offsite reading for CavanKerry Press to celebrate Singing from the Deep End (see March event post below for details on both), I’ll be woman-ing a table for Perugia Press and celebrating with our press and five sister orgs with a collaborative offsite reading on March 4, in honor of our friend Jennifer Martelli. It’s been a real honor to share my new book Singing from the Deep End with readers and audiences so far this year. I have three more events coming up this month, the first being my local book launch at the Boutelle-Day Poetry Center at Smith College on Thursday, February 19 at 7:00pm. The path to publication for a book is usually long and winding, or at least it has been for me, and I know I’m not alone. I first started to send out a version of my first book, Uncertain Acrobats, in 2015. It was accepted by CavanKerry Press after having sent it elsewhere approximately 60 times, and additional years passed between acceptance of the manuscript and publication in 2021. My second collection, Singing from the Deep End, also luckily found a home with CavanKerry, and it will be released on February 3, 2026.
