Singing from the Deep End is Surfacing Soon!

So happy to share that my second full-length collection, Singing from the Deep End, is coming from CavanKerry Press on February 3, 2026! It’s available NOW for preorder at 20% off with the code “humming” (& the code works for my first book Uncertain Acrobats too) through November 2nd. Deep love and thanks to all who have supported this book along its way.

This stunning cover was designed by CavanKerry’s Mike Corrao. The art Mike found is from an old marine biology text and is entitled “A History of the British Sea-Anemones and Corals (Plate VI)” by naturalist Philip Henry Gosse. Sea-Anemones? Corals?!? Swoon. I love that cavern at the center, the way the image brings in both water and roots, and the tonal balance that is struck between lightness and darkness. All of that really harmonizes with the book’s title, and its content of womanhood and childhood, grief and joy, and my oceanic hometown of Gloucester, Massachusetts that serves as a backdrop for the collection. It’s also got this vintage vibe to it, which speaks to my thrift-store core. I’m grateful to Mike for the care and creativity shown in crafting this cover.

Singing from the Deep End tries its best to sing with love and through grief, and I write this in the wake of Baron Wormser’s death on October 7, my editor who tenderly held both of my CKP books and encouraged them into stronger shapes, as did my dear friend Jenn Martelli, who died on September 25. In honor of their presence in these pages and in my life, and in the lives and pages of so many, I share this with you. I hope you’ll check out their work if you don’t already know and love it.

In announcing their Spring 2026 Collection as a whole, CavanKerry wrote that all four forthcoming books “bear witness to the human heart—girlhood & grief, rage & reclamation, desire & defiance, love & lineage. Four voices, one chorus of transformation.” I’m proud to be part of this chorus, and I offer my ongoing appreciation to CavanKerry Press and my congratulations to my press mates.

This past August, one poem from the collection, “Winter Trees,” was published online at Up the Staircase Quarterly in their 70th issue, “Kindred: Poems on Platonic Love.” The piece is for Jerica Mazzaferro, my dear friend who died in 2020, and the middle section of my book is written as an homage to her. In September, my poem “Telling the Bees” that closes Singing from the Deep End—written for my mother and originally published in On the Seawall—was released by Paloma Press in the anthology The Nature of Our Times: Poems on America’s Lands, Waters, Wildlife, and Other Natural Wonders. It’s an honor to be part of that publication that represents Poets for Science, alongside so many incredible writers.

Stay tuned for the upcoming publication of a few more poems from Singing from the Deep End ahead of its release—in Yellow Arrow Journal and Poetry Northwest—and for news about the virtual and in-person readings I’ve got planned throughout 2026. I look forward to sharing this collection with you soon, and remember that the early presale runs through November 2, so you can order a copy now. Thank you!
